Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Masses of workers who take part in May Day or International Workers' Day agree to carry out a national strike. This will be done if the Constitutional Court (MK) does not revoke the Job Creation Law.
“If the Constitutional Court does not grant the lawsuit of the labor parties and labor unions, then we can be sure of preparing a national strike, which will stop production so that the employment cluster is lifted,” said the President of the Labor Party and President of the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPI), Said Iqbal, Wednesday (1/5/2024).
The workers' focus is on the employment cluster which causes a lot of harm to them. Meanwhile, in another cluster, Said Iqbal confirmed that there were no problems.
“No other clusters, MSME clusters, clusters about investment friendliness, go ahead. There are 11 clusters,” he said.
There are 9 points in the employment cluster that are highlighted. Starting from cheap wages and outsourcing for life.
There are also contract employees without periods, low severance pay, and easy layoff and recruitment processes. Regarding leave, it is also in the spotlight, namely long leave being abolished as well as maternity leave and menstrual leave.
Another point is related to rampant foreign workers. Lastly, there are many criminal sanctions that have been abolished.
Meanwhile, in his speech at the May Day Fiesta at the Madya Senayan Stadium, he revealed that workers received unfair treatment. Especially wages that do not keep up with inflation.
Said Iqbal also touched on wage determination, which he said was controlled by certain parties, namely political parties and capital owners.
“How come you let these political parties continue to rule? They are the owners of capital, controlling your wages. It's not wages going up, wages going down. Nombok!” he stressed.
