“Cumulatively, Indonesia's total surplus is US$36.93 billion,” said BPS Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics Pudji Ismartini in a press conference, Monday (15/1/2024)
This realization is lower than the position in 2022 which was US$ 54.46 billion, meaning a decrease of US$ 17.52 billion.
Indonesia's exports during 2023 reached US$ 258.2 billion, down 11.33% compared to 2022 which amounted to US$ 291.90 billion.
The good news is that Indonesia can finally beat China in trade throughout 2023. Indonesia's exports to China reached US$ 64.94 billion while imports amounted to US$ 62.18 billion.
“Indonesia's exports to China reached US$ 64.9 billion,” he said.
The story of Indonesia's trade surplus over China was predicted by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) some time ago. At that time, Jokowi said that after a trade surplus with the United States (US), Indonesia would have a surplus over China.
