Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Believing that online shopping will become increasingly popular, Shopee Indonesia launched High-End Brands Indonesia by Shopee (HEB). This launch is considered to be the right time, considering that more and more people shop online.
Shopee Indonesia Executive Director, Christin Djuarto said, there are at least 1 million packages per day in Indonesia from online purchases.
“Over the last two or three years more and more people shop online, even for items that are considered expensive. Therefore, we think this is also the right time for goods from Indonesian designers to introduce their products not only in Indonesia, but also the world,” said Christin at the High End Brands Indonesia Sharing Session in Jakarta, Thursday (21/3/2024).
According to him, fashion is also a rising category, so starting last February, the High End Brand by Shopee journey was eagerly awaited.
“This is a new journey and it is hoped that it will become a new segment and make people believe more and more,” hoped Christin.
To date, HEB has become an exclusive digital platform that connects the work of 68 well-known brands and fashion designers in Indonesia to millions of customers in 514 cities and regencies throughout Indonesia.
Apart from that, Christin also ensured that HEB's features were deliberately designed to be more exclusive so that they were in line with the premium market being targeted. The prices for designer products sold start from IDR 2 million.
Through HEB, Christin added, Indonesian designers also have the opportunity to take part in the Shopee Export program so that their products can be reached by a wider market in the Southeast Asia region. Even at the Grand Launching in May, it will be able to be streamed directly from five countries in ASEAN.
HEB makes it easier for people to buy clothes by 60 Indonesian designers, including Tex Saverio, Didiet Maulana, Mel Ahyar, and Sebastian Gunawan via the Shopee application.
Meanwhile, Ye Gang, one of the founders of Shopee, said that this feature was launched to accommodate the sales trend of luxury brands whose growth continues to be positive. He also cited the success of brands such as Gucci and Louis Vuitton which have begun to utilize digital platforms to drive their sales.
“Around 20% of luxury goods sales are projected to come from online until 2025,” he said.
Furthermore, Ye Gang highlighted the limited access for consumers outside Java who want to buy designer clothing, even though they have the ability to do so. For this reason, HEB was launched with the hope of bridging designers with new consumers who can be reached through online shopping platforms.
