Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – There are fraudsters' methods of seeking profit from other people's suffering. In the month of Ramadan, an Eid cake seller had to bear losses because fraudsters disguised themselves as buyers.
This sad story went viral on TikTok and was shared by a victim named Syura Badron. The woman from Malaysia complained about her fate of being cheated by the customer who ordered the pastries she sold.
The fraudster was cunning by providing proof of transfer via a QR code payment mechanism.
“Throughout the fasting month I have been selling Eid cakes in Johor Baru. Today, Alhamdulillah, I have sold Eid cakes, although not many,” said Syura Badron (@syurabadron86), quoted Wednesday (10/4/2024).
However, he said there were several buyers who paid with a QR code and cheated him. Some buyers did show proof of payment, but the money did not go into their account balance.
“I'm sad. In sadness there is Allah's blessing. From here I learned,” he said.
Furthermore, he said that he did not think that there could be fraudsters who did not pay for the Eid cakes they sold and had the heart to provide fake proof of payment.
According to him, the food enters a person's body and blood. Fraudsters should not have the heart to cheat in their efforts to earn a living.
For this reason, he said that in the future he would remind himself and his staff to check their accounts when someone provided proof of payment.
Through the sad story of the pastry seller, we need to be aware that there are many fraudsters who trick victims by using technology. For this reason, make sure to always check things carefully so you don't become a victim.
