Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) also supports the government in restoring critical land and sustainable development. Throughout 2023, Telkom will carry out restoration of critical land at several points in Indonesia such as Jabodetabek, Banten, West Java, Central Java and East Java.
The forms of assistance include reforestation of critical land and nature conservation, planting trees with a total of 33,800 seeds distributed for 82.1 Ha of land spread across 4 provinces.
Senior General Manager of Telkom's Community Development Center, Hery Susanto, said that reforestation of critical land is Telkom's effort to prevent soil erosion, which is caused by successive winds and rainwater. This critical land reforestation activity can help increase soil fertility and keep the air that people breathe clean and healthy.
According to him, the reforested land can also be used as agricultural land which also supports improving the economy and quality of life of the surrounding community.
“Social interventions are carried out by Telkom Indonesia in order to create planned changes in society, both individuals and communities, for the better through sustainable programs. We also always measure and evaluate the success of the efforts that have been made to ensure that social functions are carried out in accordance with hope,” he said, quoted from a written statement, Friday (3/5/2024).
He explained that Telkom is committed to assisting the community in various sectors of life such as the environment. This is also in line with supporting government programs that are in line with Sustainable Development Goals (TPB) point 15, namely land ecosystems.
“The hope is that people can experience its benefits in a sustainable manner for future generations,” concluded Hery.
One of the aid recipients, Wawan, who is also a member of a farmer's group, expressed his gratitude and enthusiasm for this program. He said the reforestation program helped them get through the post-disaster phase in 2020.
“On behalf of the beneficiaries and the people of Lebakgedong Village and Banjarsari Village, we would like to express our gratitude for all the attention and assistance from PT Telkom Indonesia. This assistance is beneficial for our community,” said Wawan.
He revealed that at the beginning of 2020, a devastating natural disaster occurred. Where villages, agricultural areas and environments that were previously green with trees and crops were destroyed instantly by disasters.
“We will plant and care for it together with a sense of responsibility. We hope that this program will be guided and supervised as well as possible and that PT Telkom Indonesia will always be victorious and successful in carrying out its mission to help the Indonesian people,” said Wawan.
