Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Samsung is no longer the global smartphone king in the latest IDC report. Its position shifted to second place, beaten by Apple.
During 2023, Apple will sell 234.6 million smartphone units with a market share of 20.10%. This number increased by 3.70% from 2022.
This result was obtained by Apple when the company was in a lot of trouble recently. Including sluggish sales of the iPhone 15 in China, the world's largest market, due to competition with local players such as Huawei and Xiaomi.
Samsung itself sold 226.6 million cellphone units in that period. The market share held by the South Korean giant was 19.4% or down 13.6% from the previous year.
In the same report, Xiaomi is in 3rd place. Meanwhile Oppo and Transsion (Infinix, Tecno, and Itel) are ranked 4th and 5th.
Throughout 2023, a total of more than 1.1 billion HP units will be sold. Unfortunately, revenue fell 3.2% from the previous year which reached 1.2 billion units.
