Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Scientists say that the remaining lifespan of the sun is only 600 million years. In their calculations, scientists revealed that the sun is now 5 billion years old or in its middle age phase.
Scientists also believe that the age of the sun will have a negative impact on planets, including Earth. One of them is that the Earth cannot be a place for plants to live and the food chain will be destroyed.
The Sun's temperature will rise 10 percent hotter in 1 billion years. These changes make the greenhouse effect uncontrollable, the oceans evaporate, and drought will occur, quoted by IFLScience, Wednesday (10/4/2024).
Humans probably wouldn't live in those conditions either. The earth, in the end, will turn into a very hot place and melt its contents.
“Earth and Mars will likely spiral into the sun, while the other planets will be pushed outward,” the Iflscience report said.
Meanwhile, the Sun will turn into a new star White Dwarf. The central core layer of the solar system will melt and much mass will be lost.
This event may have occurred only 30 billion years ago. But in the process, the solar system will lose 3 planets in 10 billion years.
The largest planet Jupiter is the one that will survive as long as all this happens. But it will also be pushed outside the solar system and merge with other stars.
The last planet will leave the system in 100 billion years. Much longer than the age of the universe of around 13.8 billion years.
