Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) through Spokesperson (Spokesperson) Lalu Muhamad Iqbal opened his voice regarding humanitarian assistance for Indonesian citizens in Japan. Lalu said that his party had prepared various needs for Indonesian citizens affected by the devastating earthquake measuring 7.5 on the Richter scale which hit the Ishikawa area on Monday, January 1 2024.
“We have prepared logistical assistance for them. Various needs, starting from food needs, baby diapers, and so on,” said Lalu when met in Menteng, Central Jakarta, Thursday (4/1/2024).
“But what is clear is that it is not drugs because the system is good in Japan, they are handled well,” he added.
Lalu said that at least 147 Indonesian citizens had been evacuated and were currently living in three separate shelters or shelters. “And the Indonesian Embassy will intervene immediately,” he added.

Meanwhile, regarding the damage to houses there, Lalu said that the Japanese government had said that it would handle this matter.
Japan experiences hundreds of earthquakes every year and most do not cause damage, with strict building regulations in place for more than four decades.
Earthquakes have hit the Noto area with increasing strength and frequency over the past five years.
The country was haunted by a magnitude 9.0 undersea earthquake in 2011, which triggered a tsunami that left around 18,500 people dead or missing. This disaster also flooded the Fukushima nuclear power plant, causing one of the worst nuclear disasters in history.
