Malaysia is the favorite destination for foreign tourists, what's the secret?

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Malaysia claims to be a country in Southeast Asia which is a favorite destination for foreign tourists.

The neighboring country said it would have 29 million foreign tourist visits throughout 2023, according to reports Focus Malaysia. This makes it a favorite destination in Southeast Asia, a status previously held by Thailand.

“This is a historical milestone for the Malaysian government's ongoing efforts and the entire tourism industry,” said Director of the Malaysian Tourism Promotion Department in Vietnam, Nor Hayati Zainuddin, as quoted from VN Express.

So, what is Malaysia's secret so that it can become a favorite destination for foreign tourists?

Nor Hayati said that one of the secrets of 'Negeri Upin Ipin' succeeding in attracting many foreign tourists is because the immigration process is easy.

Malaysia's Immigration Department last year allowed foreigners to complete digital arrival cards online three days before entering the country to speed up immigration.

Apart from that, the 30-day visa exemption for Indian and Chinese tourists also contributed to increasing the number of tourists.

The Malaysian government last year also tripled the duration of the visa-free stay for Hong Kong passport holders to 90 days as a reciprocal measure.
