Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Elon Musk wants to visit the Republic of Indonesia's National Capital Region or IKN. The world's richest man came to IKN bringing Starlink satellite internet access to be installed at the Puskesmas.
Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Pandjaitan admitted that he had only spoken to Elon Musk by telephone on Friday last week.
“I called Elon Musk a week ago, last Friday. Starlink wants to come in. I think the requirements have almost been completed. He is going to IKN,” he said, Wednesday (7/2/2024).
Starlink is a satellite-based internet service provided by SpaceX, Elon Musk's space flight company.
Luhut explained that Starlink had submitted a letter to the Ministry of Communication and Information requesting permission to operate in Indonesia.
“As soon as his letter to the Ministry of Communication and Information was completed, a week later we gave him an ILO issue, permission to be fit for operation, once that was done, 5 days later he could come to Indonesia,” he said.
He suggested that during his visit to Indonesia, Musk should stop by IKN to launch the Starlink service.
“We have proposed one to IKN, because he said he wanted it launching to IKN and to community health centers close to IKN. “Because of this, the President asked why this is Starlink, so that community health centers that cannot be reached by communication can be reached with Starlink so that health services in rural areas can be reached,” said Luhut.
