Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – There is a view that business is all about flying hours. The earlier you start, the more reliable your business will be.
This case occurred on Michael Morgan's trip. He is a watch trader from England who has an annual income of US$ 10 million or Rp. 160 billion.
Morgan's story of entering the business world started from his hobby of collecting antiques. At the age of 13, Morgan often collected antiques, one of which was watches.
From his savings, he bought many classic watches. The first watch he bought was a Rolex Submariner for US$ 3,500.
However, on the way, he casually sold the Rolex watch he had bought. He sold it for US$ 5,500 and it sold for US$ 5,200 within two days.
He also made a profit of US$ 1,300. From here, he thought that the antique watch business could be a money-making machine, so he decided to stay in business.
Moreover, there are lots of antique hunters on the trip. In essence, the antiques business still has a market.
Launching from Entrepreneur, Morgan, who is still 13 years old, admits that he has difficulty dividing his time between school and business. As a result, he got around it by doing business during his rest time.
During that time, he secretly carried out transactions so that buyers would not find out that the seller was a schoolboy. Nevertheless, Morgan admitted that the secret buying and selling of watches could reach US$ 50,000.
Of course, that's a huge amount for school children. This business life then makes doing business more fun than going to school.
He studied at the University of Southern California, but stopped because he couldn't divide his time between business and school. After that, Morgan chose to live as a hunter and antiques dealer.
He admits that he often goes all over the world to get classic watches and never gets tired of looking. Because, it could all end in satisfaction because Morgan could profit a lot from the sale.
He once sold a Rolex Cosmograph Daytona ref.6263 1970 “Paul Newman” for US$ 750,000 to a prominent collector in Asia. Site Entrepreneur noted, the man who is now 25 years old has succeeded in selling thousands of watches to clients throughout the world.
In fact, from 2017 until now his personal annual income has reached more than US$ 10 million or Rp. 160 billion. Meanwhile, the company's gross income can reach US$ 110 million or Rp. 1.7 trillion per year.
Based on this achievement, Morgan gave the message that to do business from something you like. Because, if it starts from something you like, then you can do it freely because it will be fun.
“Take advantage of your passion if it can lead to business. This makes all the hard work of running your own business much more enjoyable,” he said, quoted Friday (3/5/2024).
