Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – President Joko Widodo or Jokowi has a secret for maintaining his immune system by consuming herbal medicine.
Launching President Joko Widodo's official YouTube account some time ago, the Palace cook, Tri Supriharjo, revealed the recipe for the concoction that the President drank.
There are three types of spices that Jokowi mixes in one glass of his herbal medicine, namely ginger, ginger and turmeric. Drinking herbal medicine has been his routine before morning activities for decades.
“Sir, in the morning it's herbal medicine and bitter tea. The herbal medicine consists of ginger, ginger, then turmeric,” said Tri in the video entitled 'Stories from the President's Kitchen'.
Jokowi's trusted chef since 2013 also described the recipe used to prepare Jokowi's herbal medicine. The ingredients are 8 pieces of ginger, 6 pieces of turmeric, and 3 pieces of ginger.
Everything is cut approximately the size of a finger knuckle. Then, all the ingredients are boiled together until they turn brown.
After it was cooked, Tri served the anti-aging herbal concoction to the President in a large mug.
“The mugs are just cups for herbal medicine, the old fashioned cups blirik, there are brown ones. Maybe people rarely use it now. Wow, it's very simple, sir,” he said.
The benefits of these three herbal ingredients are no longer in doubt. This was conveyed by the Head of the Research Institute for Spices and Medicinal Plants (Balittro) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Evi Savitri Iriani, citing an article published on CNBC Indonesia on Thursday (29/2/2024).
According to his research, ginger, turmeric and ginger are spice plants that contain immune particles. According to him, both ginger and ginger contain curcumin and gingerol compounds which are very safe for public consumption.
“Herbs, especially turmeric and ginger, contain curcumin. Meanwhile, ginger contains gingerol which can increase the body's endurance if taken regularly,” said Evi, quoted on Thursday (29/2/2024).
