Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The UMKM EXPO(RT) BRILIANPRENEUR 2023 event succeeded in making a deep impression on many business people. One of them Husni Muthohari, founder and CEO of the MUNO FOLK brand, namely the manufacturer homefragrance from Bandung, West Java. Husni said that MUNO FOLK had participated in the BRILLIANTPRENEUR event three times since 2021.
As is known, UMKM EXPO(RT) BRILIANPRENEUR 2023 is an annual event organized by PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BRI which is held in conjunction with BRI's anniversary. This year it will take place at the Jakarta Convention Center on 7-10 December 2023 and carries the theme “Crafting Global Connection“.
“Participating in this event can exchange ideas with fellow MSMEs. There is a lot of inspiration here, a lot of motivation to build products and markets new,” said Husni.
MUNO FOLK, which was built in 2018, first participated in BRILLIANTPRENEUR when the Covid-19 pandemic hit. So, recalled Husni, all BRILLIANTPRENEUR activities were carried out online. Of course, this has honed MUNO FOLK to be more resilient when facing the crisis caused by the pandemic.
Through UMKM EXPO(RT) BRILIANPRENEUR, according to him, MSME actors also get the assistance they need. The assistance provided strengthens the business fundamentals of MSME actors. Moreover, in 2020 Husni has participated in another BRI program, namely Brilliant Young Entrepreneurs (PMB).
This is very important because through mentoring there is a lot of knowledge that is applicable in supporting business sustainability and development. Apart from that, Husni was impressed with networks which was built through the UMKM EXPO(RT) BRILIANPRENEUR. There are even opportunities for export.
“There is business matching, even though we have passed curation, we know better how to build a product as a whole for a wider market. This is very good for MSMEs because they know what the needs in the external market are like. “Open the network, open wider links,” he said.
Prospective Market, Leave Old Profession
Keeping MUNO FOLK's business alive with serious development through the UMKM EXPO(RT) BRILIANPRENEUR event has now become Husni's passion. He saw, homefragrance has an attractive market if taken seriously. Moreover, public awareness regarding health and comfort in the home environment continues to increase after the pandemic.
He mentioned the market homefragrance in Indonesia is promising. This is proven by the expansion of the MUNO FOLK market itself. Currently there are around eight marketing points offline in Bandung, Jabodetabek and Bali. Among them, MUNO FOLK is present in large retail companies.
MUNO FOLK produces aromatherapy candles made from natural soybeans free of paraffin in 40 aroma variants with different characters. Now it also produces reed diffusers, room sprays and incense to accompany meditation and relaxation at home.
Husni admitted that MUNO FOLK is still produced at home with a capacity of up to 2,000 products per month. Husni wants MUNO FOLK to create products that are symbols of hope and relief.
UMKM EXPO(RT) BRILIANPRENEUR 2023 was also present as a facility business matching between Indonesian MSMEs and a wider range of potential consumers, including foreign markets. It is hoped that this flagship program from BRI will be able to grow and develop MSME players to penetrate the global market.
For information, UMKM EXPO(RT) BRILIANPRENEUR 2023 is part of a series of activities for BRI's 128th anniversary and was officially closed by BRI President Director Sunarso on December 10 2023 at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC). This activity succeeded in recording a dealing commitment through business matching worth USD 81.3 million dollars or IDR 1.26 trillion (assuming an exchange rate of IDR 15,500 per USD).
