Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Indonesian national football team will face Vietnam in the follow-up match for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
The Indonesia vs Vietnam match is a continuation of the second round of Group F qualifying for the 2026 World Cup in the Asian zone. The Indonesia vs Vietnam National Team match will take place twice, namely March 21 2024 at GBK, Jakarta and March 26 2024 at My Dinh Stadium, Hanoi.
Indonesian coach, Shin Tae-yong, has named 26 national team players in the squad that will compete in this match. However, Jordi Amat, Elkan Baggott and Yance Sayuri are certain to be absent from the national team in the match against Vietnam due to injuries. Apart from that, Asnawi Mangkualam was also absent due to accumulated yellow cards.
Shin Tae-yong admitted that he was optimistic that he would be able to overcome Vietnam's toughness in the two 2026 World Cup qualifying matches. The coach, who is familiarly called STY, said that the Garuda squad received new strength after several new naturalized players were added to the squad list.
“As a head coach I am optimistic. I am serious about preparing the team as much as possible. “When I met several national team players in Europe, I took the time to talk, have dinner and build the players' motivation to win against Vietnam,” said STY, quoted from the PSSI website, Wednesday (20/3/2024).
“Lastly we won by one goal in the Asian Cup. What about tomorrow? Football is not as simple as a score. But what is certain is that I am optimistic that the team will be ready for the next match and chase victory, whether in GBK or Vietnam,” he continued.
