Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi will carry out a raid on illegal travel, as a result of the deadly Gran Max accident at KM 58 of the Jakarta-Cikampek or Japek toll road at around 08.15 last Monday (8/4).
According to Budi, there were at least three problems behind the accident, namely driver fatigue, overloading and illegal travel. These three problems are used as evaluation material to deal with the backflow after Eid 2024 today.
“There are several things that we take meaning from, one is the point of fatigue, he is chasing deposits, going back and forth, doesn't know what it's like, secondly the load is more, and this is massive, the third is illegal,” said Budi when met at the Ministry's Halal Bihalal event. Transportation 2024, Jakarta, Wednesday (10/4/2024).
Therefore, Budi confirmed, during the reverse flow period which will occur starting April 14, the Traffic Corps (Korlantas) will start carrying out raids on illegal travel. Apart from that, he appealed to the public not to use illegal travel when traveling because if there is an accident, insurance will not cover it.
“Because if he is not registered, I think if he has an accident, it will cause problems, he might not get insurance. So that is a lesson to be learned,” stressed Budi.
“For passengers, if possible, don't take something like that. We are still making arrangements. Yesterday we spoke with the Head of Traffic Corps, he will also carry out raids. So those who take passengers (illegally) will be raided,” he said.
Budi asked the public to ride official vehicles when they finished returning home for Eid. According to him, there is still a lot of public transportation available to serve long distance trips.
“So, on the one hand, we are taking action, law enforcement, on the other hand, we are encouraging them to use existing public transportation, there are still lots of buses,” said Budi.
Setiawan Budidarma (61), owner of the address listed on the STNK of the Gran Max car involved in the accident, admitted that he was not the owner of the vehicle. In fact, he did not know the owner of the car, Yanti Setiawan Budidarma.
Based on police information, the STNK of the Gran Max car that was involved in the accident was listed in the name of Yanti Setyawan Budidarma with the address Jalan Duren Number 16 RT003/009, Utan Kayu Utara Village, Matraman District, East Jakarta.
“Boro-boro (mine). No. I don't know the name Yanti either. The name Yanti doesn't exist here,” he said, quoted from CNNIndonesia, Tuesday (9/4/2024).
He revealed that his ex-wife's name was almost the same, namely Irma Damayanti. However, Setiawan confirmed that his child's mother was not involved.
“My ex-wife's name is Irma Damayanti. But she was always called Irman, never Yanti,” he added.
Setiawan explained that he had lived in his house since 2011 and since then had never known the name Yanti Setyawan Budidarma. Even the neighbors in the neighborhood don't have that name.
Therefore, he plans to report this to the police on suspicion of identity misuse. Setiawan admitted that he was very aggrieved by this incident, because he had to be dragged into a case he didn't know about.
“I wanted to report it, but I just kept quiet. Since yesterday my life has been calm and then suddenly there was a disaster so I was involved,” he explained.
He was very shocked when the police visited him because of the fatal accident. After that, the media came in droves for interviews.
