Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Google Drive is a cloud storage service developed by Google. This service allows users to store, share, and access files from anywhere over the internet.
Google Drive has 15GB of free online storage space for each user, but if you want to increase the capacity, there are additional costs.
Google Drive's storage capacity of only 15GB is often an obstacle for many users. Ultimately hampering productivity and efficiency in managing their important files.
Many users choose to delete large files if they are almost full. However, sometimes this step does not give the expected results.
Even though the files have been deleted, some users still experience a situation where their Google Drive storage remains full. Here are the causes and how to overcome them
Google Drive Storage Solution is Full Even Though Files Have Been Deleted
1. Empty Trash in Google Drive
When you delete files in Google Drive, they are not immediately permanently deleted, but instead moved to the “Trash” folder for 30 days. To free up storage space, you need to empty the trash folder in the following way:
– Open Google Drive via browser
– Click “Trash” in the left panel
– Select “Empty Trash” to delete all files permanently
2. Check and Delete Files in Google Photos
Photos and videos uploaded to Google Photos at original size will reduce your Google storage capacity. To save space, you can delete photos or videos you no longer need with the following steps:
– Open the Google Photos app on your Android device or visit https://www.google.com/photos/about/ via browser
– Select the photos or videos you want to delete (you can select multiple files at once by tapping and holding one file, then tapping another file)
– Tap the trash icon at the top of the screen to delete selected files
– Deleted files will be moved to the Trash folder for 60 days (30 days for Android 11 and above) before being permanently deleted
To permanently delete photos in Google Photos:
– Tap or click “Trash” in the side menu
– Select the photos or videos you want to permanently delete (you can select several files at once)
– Tap or click the trash can icon at the top of the screen
– Confirm the deletion by selecting “Delete permanently”
3. Clean Spam in Gmail
Spam emails piling up in your Gmail inbox can be the cause of your Google Drive storage being full. To overcome this, delete all spam emails in the following way:
– Open Gmail
– Select the “Spam” folder in the left menu
– Select all spam emails
– Click “Delete Forever” to delete spam emails permanently
By following the steps above, you can solve the Google Drive storage full problem and optimize your storage space.
