Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – One of humanity's concerns regarding the widespread application of artificial intelligence (AI) technology is job loss.
AI is predicted to surpass human intelligence, so that many jobs can be done by robots. It is feared that the unemployment rate will soar.
However, there are also those who say humans can survive as long as they are willing to adapt and utilize AI to increase productivity. Daniel Shaphero, who is the COO of LinkedIn, revealed several tips so that humans are not replaced by AI.
According to Saphero, every role in the future will change by adding the context of AI. Starting from engineers to sales, marketing teams, financial experts to lawyers.
“Everyone will use AI at one point,” he said in an interview with Bloomberg, quoted from LATimes, Thursday (4/1/2024).
Saphero said the skill transformation that humans need is to try to work together with AI.
“The most important skill in all future jobs is understanding how to harness the power of AI to support everyday life,” he said.
Furthermore, Saphero said that the professions that will be 'sexy' in the future are those that involve data scientists and platform engineers. Because the technology industry will become increasingly fast with the demands of the times.
“I think we are moving towards a world where all companies in all sectors are required to utilize AI technology effectively,” he explains.
When asked whether the current popularity of AI will fade over time, Saphero doubts this. According to him, from a technological perspective, the application of AI has proven to make human life easier.
Starting from writing messages, creating visual designs, to attractive resumes for applying for jobs.
“Technology that is only a year old can already be used widely. I am optimistic that in the future the value of generative AI in the world of work and professionals will be truly visible,” he said.
Some time ago, JPMorgan Chase executive Jamie Dimon said that future generations will have work time of only 3 days a week thanks to the help of AI.
Responding to this, Saphero could not provide certainty. However, he believes that the role of AI, which can complete monotonous and repetitive work, will enable humans to focus on doing more meaningful work.
Saphero's advice for young people who will enter the job market, it is important to master AI tools and see the amazing things that can be achieved.
“Apart from that, although there will be a lot of demand for technical skills, the demand for humanitarian skills will increase. For example, communication skills and creativity,” he concluded.
