Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Some time ago social media was abuzz with netizen protests regarding the minister's luxury house in the National Capital (IKN) of the archipelago. The protest was also linked to the high poverty situation in Indonesia.
Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono revealed that this information was not true. The construction of the minister's official residence is adjusted to needs.
In fact, he said that the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, was shocked when he saw the minister's house at IKN because of its small size.
“No No, no, no, it's more luxurious, here (Jakarta) is more luxurious,” said Basuki at the Presidential Palace Complex, a few moments ago.
“Yes, who called it luxurious first? If it makes me smaller, it's because I live in it (the Widya Chandra Official House). It's smaller than the size at Widya Chandra, even Pak Luhut said, you know, why is this small? It should be able to be raised. But with “The compact city concept was adapted to the design of the competition winner,” Basuki explained.

The minister's house was built with a building area of around 580 square meters and a land area of around 1,000 square meters. At least now there are 2 ministerial housing units that have been completed.
In early 2023, during a hearing between the DPR RI and the PUPR Ministry, it was stated that the construction of 36 ministerial official residences would cost IDR 519.06 billion. This means that the construction of each minister's house at IKN costs around IDR 14 billion more.
Director General of Housing at the PUPR Ministry, Iwan Suprijanto, said that the budget includes furniture. This makes the minister's house at IKN immediately ready for occupancy.
“Regarding this price, because the specs include fully furnished, so the contents are included. Later, Mr/Mrs Minister will be the one to occupy it, just go in,” said Iwan, quoted from detikFinance.
