Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Hamas broadcast a video of the Israeli hostages, Sunday local time. At least three hostages he held in Gaza emerged as the war between Israel and Hamas entered its 100th day.
The video shows the hostages urging the government of Prime Minister (PM) Benjamin Netanyahu to stop attacks on Palestinian Islamist groups and release them. The 37 second video features Noa Argamani (26), Yossi Sharabi (53) and Itay Svirsky (38).
The video ends with graphic text. It says “tomorrow we will tell you about their fate”.
Previously, Hamas had said they had lost contact with several hostages when Israeli troops opened fire on Gaza. Hamas believes some of the hostages may have been killed.
Meanwhile, Israeli officials have generally refused to respond to Hamas' public messages regarding the hostages. They consider it psychological warfare.
But Israel has stressed that it is aware of the risks the hostages would face as a result of their attacks. Hence, they claim to have taken precautionary measures.
“Military operations take time. This requires us to do the right thing, and we adapt it according to the threats and hostages on the ground,” said the army chief's spokesman, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari.
Of the approximately 240 people arrested by Hamas in the October 7 operation, about half were freed in a ceasefire in November. Israel says 132 people remain in Gaza and 25 of them have died.
