Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The public has complained about the increase in airplane ticket prices during the Eid holiday. On social media, there is even an uproar about the price of plane tickets from Jakarta to Padang reaching up to IDR 5.2 million.
Based on CNBC Indonesia's monitoring on the online ticket buying and selling site Traveloka, the most expensive flight ticket price from Jakarta to Padang on April 6 2024 or H-4 Eid is held by Batik Air + Super Air Jet at IDR 5,267,600. However, this flight is not direct from Jakarta to Padang.
Passengers will be served first with flights from Jakarta (CGK) to Kuala Lumpur (KUL) with Batik Air. Then, arriving in Kuala Lumpur, passengers will transfer to Super Air Jet to Padang (PDG). The total time required for passengers to use this flight is 9 hours 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, other flights also offer similar things with Batik Air + Super Air Jet. For example, Air Asia Berhad (Malaysia) offers flights from Jakarta to Padang via Kuala Lumpur with ticket prices of IDR 3,218,261 to IDR 3,465,819 with a journey time of 10 hours 40 minutes to the longest.
Want to get cheap plane tickets for the Jakarta-Padang route? There is. Garuda Indonesia offers direct flights with a ticket price of IDR 1,990,629, flight time 1 hour 50 minutes.
On regular flights or weekdays, flights from Jakarta to Padang via Kuala Lumpur with Air Asia or Batik Air are set at IDR 1,017,600 to IDR 1,047,060.
The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) has opened its voice regarding the soaring price of plane tickets ahead of the 2024 Eid al-Fitr homecoming. Spokesperson for the Ministry of Transportation, Adita Irawati, said that up to now, the party has not encountered any violations of the Upper Limit Tariff (TBA).

According to him, plane ticket prices during Eid will still be within the corridor limits determined by the government.
“Until now, we have not encountered any TBA violations, because we monitor that prices are still within the corridor,” said Adita.
Adita said that you need to pay attention to the prices listed on the Online Travel Agent (OTA), which are direct or connecting flight ticket prices. If the flight is a connecting flight, then it would be natural for the price to double or even triple, depending on the connecting route.
“You need to pay attention to prices on OTAs, whether direct flights or connecting. Because TBA is the rate for one flight per route. If there is a connecting flight, the price will increase 2 times, or even 3 times, depending on the connecting route. ,” he explained.
Apart from that, Adita said it was also necessary to pay attention to the type of flight class. This is because the flight fares regulated by the government are only economy class flights, not business class fares.
“Apart from that, you need to check the flight class. What the government regulates is only economy fares, while business fares are not regulated,” he explained.
