Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Civil Servants (PNS) are the dream of many people. However, when carrying out this work, many of them cannot stand it due to various factors. One of them was experienced by Zhou, a woman from Yunnan province, China.
Zhou is one lucky woman. At the age of 23 and a graduate of a well-known university, he has already qualified as a civil servant with a salary that does not disappoint. It can be predicted that life until old age will not be difficult.
Even so, there is a heavy price to pay while working, namely mental health. He admitted that being a civil servant made him stressed or depressed. As a result, he decided to resign and become a pig farmer following a friend's advice.
Initially, he thought that the profession of pig farmer was not a “fabulous” job and that his family would definitely oppose it. However, due to his great love for animals, he put those thoughts aside and decided to become a farmer.
After that, Zhou spent a lot of time taking care of the pigs, from cleaning up droppings to feeding them. In fact, he once put his hand into a pig's body which left it covered in blood.
It's not all easy. He often felt nauseous because he couldn't stand the work, but he didn't give up.
“I don't know whether I'm getting used to it or feeling numb? But, I'm no longer afraid,” Zhou said South China Morning Postquoted Tuesday (23/4/2024).
In the end, time made him get used to it. In fact, now he is a reliable breeder. Feeding pigs, caring for piglets, and giving medicine have become everyday “food”. In fact, he also called the whole activity his “dream job.”
After working for three years, Zhou admitted that he received a salary of US$830 or Rp. 13 million per month. He did not mention the nominal salary when he was still a civil servant. However, another important thing apart from earning a salary is mental health. He is no longer depressed and feels good about his work.
“I feel happy. I will work here for a long time,” he said.
Through one of his social media accounts, Zhou motivated many people to follow his steps. He advised that people must have the courage to leave a job they don't like and move to a place they like. He also asked people not to think too much about what other people think about the new job they choose.
