Cak Imin Bluntly Wants to Stop the Jokowi Food Estate Project News – 1 hour ago

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Vice Presidential Candidate Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin again criticized President Joko Widodo's Food Estate project. According to Cak Imin, the project did not have thorough planning.

“Someone said how to increase our food production quickly, so there was an idea for what is called a Food Estate. A Food Estate is cutting down forests and then planting large quantities, but the planning is not thorough,” said Cak Imin at the 'Slepet Imin' agenda in Probolinggo , East Java, last Sunday as quoted on Tuesday (15/1/2024).

Rather than building a Food Estate by clearing forests, according to Cak Imin, it is better to empower farmers as a force for food production. He said that matters in the agricultural sector, including the price of rare and expensive fertilizers, could only be resolved by the president and vice president.

“It is better to empower farmers to produce food so that our farmers plant and harvest after the harvest, the government buys the farmers' profits, so the food is available. So the national target is not only to meet national food but to make our farmers prosperous and profitable,” he said.

“Look, I heard that farmers don't have fertilizer, the seeds are bad, the price is low when they harvest. We AMEN that if they win, farmers must be comfortable working, all planting and production needs are available, the harvest is good so farmers work, are profitable, have savings and are happy,” added Cak Imin.

Cak Imin is also determined to stop the Food Estate project if he is elected vice president. He will replace it with another program that has been prepared.

“Food is available there. Don't make food available, instead farmers become spectators, that's not allowed. Therefore, we are stopping the Food Estate. We are replacing the farmers involved and giving birth to national food,” he concluded.
