Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Ahead of the 2024 General Election (Pemilu), the Australian Government advisory body, Smart Traveler, warned its citizens to be careful if they want to vacation in Indonesia.
Launching from news.com.auSmart Traveler stated that as the third largest democracy in the world, Indonesia will hold a “high risk” election next week.
The government advisory body predicts that Indonesia will be filled with massive “demonstrations and political protests” ahead of voting day which falls on Wednesday, February 14 2024.
“It is estimated that there will be traffic jams and limited access to various locations if there are protests. Avoid protest and demonstration locations, and monitor information from local media to find out the latest developments,” said Smart Traveler, quoted on Tuesday (6/2/2024) .

“There have been tensions, including demonstrations and violence in certain cities in the provinces of Papua, Mountain Papua, Central Papua and South Papua in recent years,” said the Australian Government.
“Armed groups have stated that they target foreigners, including Australians,” the statement continued.
