Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Ahead of the General Election (2024 Election) on February 14, cyber attacks are increasingly being experienced by politicians' accounts in the country.
On Tuesday (16/1), the Instagram account of vice presidential candidate (cawapres) number 3 Mahfud MD was hacked and a short video of Israeli soldiers appeared.
The video was uploaded at around 16.00 WIB, but after a few moments it was taken down.
Only a day later, now it is the turn of the former NasDem and Hanura politician's YouTube account, Akbar Faizal, to be the victim of hacking.
“Our YouTube account 'Akbar Faizal Uncensored' (AFU) experienced a hacking attack, so it is currently in the recovery process to regain full access,” he said via his official X account, quoted Wednesday (17/1/2024).
Akbar also mentioned the account of the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo) in his post.
Based on CNBC Indonesia's monitoring, the account has now changed its name to 'MicroStrategy' and displays videos related to cryptocurrency mining strategies. However, on the community page, there is still video material related to politics posted by the original AFU account.
