Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf), Sandiaga Uno, revealed the five countries of origin of the most foreign tourists (tourists) who visit Indonesia for holidays, Wednesday (3/1/2024).
Sandi said, Malaysia, Australia, Singapore, China and Timor Leste are the list of countries with the most people traveling to Indonesia from January to November 2023.
In detail, Malaysia is the country of origin for the largest number of foreign tourists with a percentage of 15.75 percent. Then followed by Australia with 12.44 percent, Singapore with 11.58 percent, China with 6.8 percent, and Timor Leste with 6.37 percent.
Furthermore, Sandiaga said that the total number of foreign tourist visits to Indonesia from January to November 2023 was 10.41 million. This figure increased by 110.86 percent when compared to the same period in 2022.
“This number of foreign tourist visits has finally reached 10.41 million from January to November 2023 or above the 9.5 million and 8.5 million upper limit targets,” said Sandiaga in the Weekly Brief with Sandi Uno in Jakarta, Wednesday (3/1/2024 ).
“This means that this is equivalent to more or less 174 percent or very significantly above our projections,” added Sandi.
Until now, the calculation of economic turnover in the tourism and creative economy sectors is still in the discussion stage. However, Sandiaga projects a contribution of IDR 120 trillion to the national economy.
“The surge in visitors during the Christmas holidays is between 107 and 110 million and the majority will carry out tourist activities,” said Sandi.
“We see that the potential turnover for the economy, including hotel and restaurant accommodation, reaches a total of more than IDR 108 billion, calculated from occupancy around 70 percent for 10 days,” he continued.
Sandi said that data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) shows that the number of rooms is around 15,500 with a room price of around IDR 1 million.
“So this projection is our reference,” said Sandi.
